Spring will be here before we know it and so will the Amputee Walking School! Take advantage of the longer days and join Dankmeyer staff, staff from University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute (UMROI), and Paralympians Todd Schaffhauser and Dennis Oehler for the next Amputee Walking School.
As always, the event is free and open to amputees and their families who would like to learn some new exercises and techniques. Registration is required. Online registration is available or you can contact Sheila Schaffer at (410) 448-6802 to register or if you'd like more information.
Are you a professional looking for more information on advanced gait training? In addition to the evening session for amputees, the Amputee Walking School is offering a course in just that subject! From 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Todd and Dennis will be offering lecture and demonstration on strengthening for individuals with lower limb loss. Lectures and labs will run from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm when professional will join with amputees for a larger session. This course has been approved by the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for .5 CEUs. For those professionals interested registration is available, please note class space is limited.
