November 2024 Amputee Walking School a Success!

The November 2024 Amputee Walking School was held on November 20, 2024. This time, we had a very special “three-legged” furry friend guest. You never know exactly what might happen!

In 2024 there were three opportunities to attend this event - in April, September and this November. Dankmeyer co-hosts with the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute (UM Rehab) to present the educational event.  More formally known as Advanced Gait Training for Individuals with Lower Extremity Amputations, Amputee Walking School typically features two segments.  The afternoon segment is a learning session for professionals. This is followed by an evening session where those with lower limb loss/limb difference and their families come to work with the pros on various kinds of exercises.  The evening session is FREE, but we ask participants to register so that we can be ready for you.

Professionals will attend the course from 1:15 pm - 6:45 pm. The topic is “Advanced Gait Training for Persons with Amputation.”

The evening session is 4:45 pm - 6:45 pm. Those with lower limb loss or limb difference and their families can join, free of charge.

We don’t have the dates for 2025 yet, but when we do, they will be posted here. We enjoyed having everyone that attended in 2024, and hope to see you and new friends next year. Remember:

ALL ARE WELCOME! Dankmeyer and the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute are happy to host for any attendee!

You do not have to be affiliated with either organization to participate.
