Congratulations, Barbara DeLorenzo for 38 years!

Unless you have a financial matter, you might never see this essential member of the Dankmeyer team. Barbara DeLorenzo has been a part of the “back office” administrative staff since she came to work at Dankmeyer in April of 1985.  She worked in the old main office when Dankmeyer was located on Maryland Avenue in downtown Baltimore.  Her job title was “The Bookkeeper” which included handling Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable!  Over the years, as the company grew, so have her duties and responsibilities, and eleven years ago she was promoted to Accounting Manager.

Barbara has seen many changes at Dankmeyer and in prosthetics and orthotics development in her 38 years at Dankmeyer.  She was part of a major move from the small facility on Maryland Avenue where she started to the larger, modern main office and fabrication facility in Linthicum Heights in 1994. She has seen how the processes used to make artificial limbs and braces have rapidly advanced in the materials used and in fabrication techniques, particularly how device componentry has developed with the increased use of computer technology. Barbara remembers when Dankmeyer changed from pen and paper, a typewriter and ledger books to a computerized system that becomes more advanced each year. The use of computers in the manufacturing process and in the office is now essential in operations.

Barbara met her husband at Dankmeyer and they have worked together for the past 38 years.  When she is not at work, she loves to spend time with her cats, gardening, cooking and reading.  She is a huge Baltimore Ravens fan and in the fall you will find her sporting her purple and black, tailgating before games and then cheering on her team. She also likes to travel. She has been to several countries and last summer she and her husband spent two weeks in Sweden, visiting their daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren.

What Barbara likes most about Dankmeyer is working with great people, who care about each other and our patients.  She enjoys being a part of the growing Dankmeyer family.
